Project Description

The company desired a modern and visually appealing website that would rank well on Google search results. They requested a unique design concept while also resembling their reference website.

Challenge

The current website had an excessive amount of written content and lacked visual and video content. The goal was to make the website modern while maintaining a minimalistic approach for search engine optimization. The word “Budweiser” was a popular search term on Google, making it difficult to achieve a website with minimal written content.

What I did

The targeted audience was identified through Google Analytics and the brief given. Three different target audience types were defined. A flow was created using Google Keyword Planner to identify the search terms related to “Budweiser,” and the current website’s ranking for these search terms was evaluated.

The mandatory gate page presented a critical problem since it prevented the google robot spiders from reaching the sub-pages, resulting in only six indexed pages. To address this issue, solutions were proposed, such as using the gateway page as a full-screen modal box or creating a sitemap and adding it to the Google search console.

The existing website’s sitemap was organized, and pages with minimal content were combined to make it easier for the target audience to find the desired content. The main navigation was rearranged, considering the customer’s preferred content, and new pages were added for better SEO.

Information architecture was created, and wireframes were drawn for different pages. The top part of the pages followed a full-screen view, and the content sections were designed with a 12-column structure, using the Bootstrap framework infrastructure. A user journey emerged, and a report on useful words and phrases for the site contents was shared.

Sample designs were created for key pages, and the customer was presented with a clearer understanding of the design concept.

Then I continued by drawing wireframes of the gateway page, homepage and other pages with different content. I used page structures using Bootstrap framework infrastructure, the top part is full screen view, the content sections are 12 column structure.

The redesign is expected to result in a modern website with improved visibility on Google search results. The website is currently under development.
